Position: Turning Point Facilitator
Status: Part-time (10.5 hours/week)
Department: Family Life Services (FLS)
Reports To: Youth Services Program Manager
Supervises: N/A


Overall Scope:
The Facilitator will serve as a mentor to high school students.

Accountability:
The Facilitator reports directly to the Youth Services Program Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain case files and statistical reports, as required.
  • Conduct orientations and prepare follow-up correspondence, administer assessments, process follow-up reports, and distribute information to staff and participants.
  • Attend applicable scheduled training as sponsored by the agency.
  • Attend meetings, as required. • Work day is four (3-4) hours, Monday-Thursday. Friday home visits
  • Travel to Annapolis High school in Anne Arundel County to facilitate program.
  • Administer curriculum for program.
  • Provide information to parents regarding their children as well as general child development.
  • Attend four field trips during the school year.
  • Implement Second Step anti-violence curriculum
  • Oversee completion of timesheets.
  • Report suspected child abuse.
  • Maintain fire drill log.
  • Complete present and absent forms daily.
  • Notify FLS Program Manager of visitors, staff problems, student’s issues.
  • Conduct group lessons and academic lessons (some can be delegated).
  • Other duties as assigned by Program Manager.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Associates degree in Social Services or related field, preferred.
  2. Prior work experience working with at-risk population.
  3. Able to disseminate information in an accurate and efficient manner.
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  5. Must maintain client and agency confidentiality.
  6. Able to work independently, with minimal supervision.
  7. Sensitivity to families with very young children and able to work with people of diverse educational, culture and economic backgrounds.
  8. Able to bend and lift 40 pounds, or the equivalent of a box of brochures.
  9. Availability of a vehicle and a current driver’s license.
