Position Overview:
Working under the supervision of the Youth Services Coordinator, the Turning Point Facilitator provides support for our Turning Point after-school program. While many position responsibilities are outlined, it is understood that specific directives will be provided by the Youth Services Coordinator with insight from the Director of Programs and Executive Director as they pertain to the effective and efficient operation of the organization.
The Turning Point Facilitator position facilitates all program activities. This position supervises interns, or volunteers.
Essential Job Funtions:
Staff
- Supervise safety plans for participants enrolled in the program, as needed;
- Work with Program Manager to manage transportation requirements;
- Supervises monthly/quarterly field trips;
- Maintain case files and statistical reports, as required;
- Conduct orientations and prepare follow-up correspondence, administer assessments, process follow-up reports, and distribute information to staff and participants;
- Attend applicable scheduled training as sponsored by the agency;
- Travel to various high schools in Anne Arundel County to facilitate program;
- Provide information to parents regarding their children as well as general child development;
- Implement Second Step anti-violence curriculum;
- Report suspected child abuse;
- Maintain fire drill log;
- Complete present and absent forms daily;
- Notify Youth Services Coordinator of visitors, staff problems, student’s issues;
- Conduct group lessons and academic lessons (some can be delegated);
- Attend committee meetings and YWCA staff meetings, as required;
- Help students with homework;
- Prepare lessons, meal calendars, field trips;
- Completes monthly program reports.
Non-essential Job Functions
- Performs all other duties as deemed necessary by the Youth Services Coordinator, the Director of Programs or the Executive Director;
- Report to YWCA main office to pickup snacks, meals, supplies, etc.
- Attend open houses, workshops, conferences that relate to program.
Requirements:
- Associates degree in Human Services, Early Childhood Education, preferred
- Or (2) years prior experience working with middle and high school students;
- Must be at least 21 years old;
- Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision;
- Must have supervisory experience;
- Ability to work with people of diverse educational, culture and economic backgrounds;
- Ability to bend and lift 40 pounds, or the equivalent of a box of brochures;
- Availability of a vehicle and a current driver’s license;
- Commitment to the mission and vision of the YWCA of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County.
- Must pass a background check;
- Must be CPR/First Aide Certified.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Ability to remain calm when others are in crisis;
- Ability to maintain records according to YWCA standards;
- Knowledge of local resources and referrals;
- Committed to continuous improvement.
